Parametric sub-structuring models of large space truss structures for structure/control co-design

Modern and future high precision pointing space missions face increasingly challenges related to the widespread use of large flexible structures. The development new modeling tools which are able account for multidisciplinary nature this problem becomes extremely relevant in order meet both structure control performance criteria. This paper proposes a novel methodology analytically model truss structures sub-structuring framework. A three dimensional unit cube element has been designed validated with Finite Element commercial software. is composed by multiple two-dimensional sub-mechanisms assembled using block-diagram models. constitutes building block constructing complex repetitions element. accurate vibration description system its minimal representation, as well possibility accounting parametric uncertainties mechanical parameters, make it an appropriate tool perform robust Structure/Control co-design. In demonstrate strengths proposed approach, structure/control co-design study case solved structured H?-synthesis. objective optimize performances antenna, minimizing perturbations coming from Solar Array Driving Mechanisms (SADM) two solar panels, performing active means Proof Mass Actuators (PMA), simultaneously reduce mass truss-structure connects antenna main spacecraft body.
